To those wondering why a woman would do this to me for so many years; she told the police that "I hurt her feelings." She believes that I made up a "story" about my friend Anne, who was adopted. I have no idea how this could hurt some woman in another state, but anything is possible when you are mentally unstable.


She would send me threats and crazy messages via MySpace, until other users and I finally had her removed completely.

Despite my URL, abolishadoption, I am not against Adoption per se. The reason I choose to use this, is because I am against The Closed Adoption Record System and the lack of laws that protect Adoptees in Open Adoption. So therefore, the link to my blog means abolish adoption LAWS...as I realize of course that there are children in this world who need a place to live and adults to take care of them. And although, I think it best, not to kick out a member of one's family through Adoption, there are times when a child has no living relatives, or relatives that are not physically able to care for them. I know too, that there is a small minority of selfish females that really do not want the babies or toddlers they have made, and prefer to put them up for Adoption, BUT, since that is hurtful enough to a child, the child does not deserve more pain by not being able to know the name of his or her family line, which is the result of Closed Adoption (and the Birth Mother Privacy Lie). What irks me as well, is the attitude towards women who conceive out of wedlock, the lack of forgiveness shown them, the incorrect belief that just because an unmarried pregnant women does not have a lot of money when she gives birth, she should pay for that by giving away her infant that she loves. (And to be punished for conceiving while unmarried and being talked into losing her child as punishment, which is what Christian Clergy does). Life changes. Situations can improve, and I do not believe Church Clergy, Social Workers, Adoption Agencies or women who can not have their own children (who manipulate fertile females to give them their infant that they want or who Adopt children literally stolen off the street in other countries not caring that this has happened) have a right to interfere in one's life path or the lessons they will learn while traveling on it. It is wrong in my opinion to separate family members to benefit other people. It is also wrong for any child to be told they are not allowed to know who gave birth to them, along with the withholding of the identities of other blood related family members. No child should have to suffer emotional distress due to this, so some adults can financially profit and others can get what they want in their lives. Adoptees are capable of loving their Adopted Parents AND want to know who brought them into this world at the same time. And if an Adoptee loves one or both of their Adoptive Parents, wanting a relationship with their Real Parents or needing to know who they are for identity closure or due to needing their medical history will not make them love an Adoptive Parent any less. I wouldn't love my Adoptive Father any less or recognize what an excellent Grandparent he has been to my natural daughter, just because I had legal access to facts pertaining to my life. Nor would I appreciate any less all he has done for me, and finding out who I am related too by blood would never make me walk away from him, or care for him if he ever needed me too. Everyone in the world is interested about from whence they came, the popularity of genealogy websites are proof of this, and we Adoptees are normal human beings like everyone else, and want the same information about who we are, like everyone else. We Adoptees also need our OBC's (Original Birth Certificates), so we are able to get passports and renew driver's licenses without being treated like terrorists or criminals which is beginning to happen since 9/11, as we only have an Amended Birth Certificate to show. Love is sharing. Love is truth. Love is freedom. And with these thoughts in mind, please join me as I along with many others, try to change the oppressive and unfair laws that have been imposed, without our permission on Adoptees since 1951.

Japan Cites Sea Shepherd as Reason for Killing Whales The Sea Shepherd ships Steve Irwin and Bob Barker have now had the illegal Japanese whaling processing ship, Nisshin Maru, on the run for two weeks. No whales have has been killed since February 5th. Three weeks remain in the whaling season, and the Sea Shepherd ships have fuel reserves to continue the chase. The Bob Barker was refitted prior to purchase and has fuel capacity four times what it was designed for. “I believe the continued running of the Nisshin Maru from East to West and back East again is their attempt to run us out of fuel,” said Captain Paul Watson, “I think they are now surprised that we are still on their tail and continuing to disrupt their illegal whaling operations.” With the Shonan Maru No. 2 disengaged to transport Captain Peter Bethune to Japan, this removes the fourth harpoon boat from the fleet. “I think we can guarantee now that the Japanese whaling fleet will fail to get their kill quota by 30% to 55% based on past observations of Sea Shepherd disruptions,” said Captain Watson, “They will not be seeing any profits for this season.” Mr. Masayuki Komatsu, the former Japanese whaling commissioner who once referred to Minke whales as the “cockroaches” of the sea, has warned Japan not to retreat from whaling in Antarctica because it would be handing a decisive victory for the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. “Our minister said that they are going to retreat from Antarctica, Sea Shepherd must be happier," Komatsu said. “If the only reason that Japan wishes to continue whaling is because they refuse to be seen backing down from Sea Shepherd than that is truly pathetic and extremely petty on the part of the Japanese government,” said Captain Watson, “What Komatsu is really saying is that we are humiliating Japan by effectively disrupting their illegal poaching activities. If it’s now all about saving face now that they’ve already lost, then they should retreat while they still have half a face left.” The Sea Shepherd ships will be pursuing the Japanese fleet this weekend during the visit to Australia by Japanese Foreign Minister Katsuya Okada. The Japanese fleet is staying just outside the boundaries of the Australian Antarctic Territorial waters (EEZ) most likely for diplomatic reason during the Okada visit. This move can be viewed as an unofficial recognition of the EEZ. In 2008, the Australian Federal Court ruled that Japan could not kill whales inside the waters of the EEZ. The Japanese whaling fleet is in contempt of that Federal Court order.

Jan’s experiences solidified his previous suspicions that ALL prisoners are political prisoners, regardless of the charge. Sticking true to his ideals, Jan refused to cooperate with investigators and become a snitch, though he was offered the potential for a reduced sentence—an option with undeniable allure when you’re theoretically facing up to 90 years. As Jan is now wont to say, financially guilty until proven innocent. Never forget—anything you say can and will be used against you.

Jan has been active for a number of years in the animal rights, environmental, human/gay/disabled rights, women’s lib and reproductive freedom, and medical marijuana movements. He spent two separate college vacations volunteering to help bring food and hope back to the communities of New Orleans after the climate chaos-worsened Hurricane Katrina. We now have the true story of Timothy and the foster family that showed him the love and kindness he so deserved. May we find some comfort in knowing that he truly knew love because of this wonderful family............Many hugs and thanks to them.

Attached you will find two pictures of Timothy, the little cat who had been glued to Interstate 90. He is held by my son, Ben Kean. Some of the information you were given about him was incorrect. Timothy was only 3 months old, not 7 months old. He came into Second Chance Rescue Center on Friday, December 11th, not on December 18th. He came home with me on Monday, December 14th and was at our house until I took him to Dale Animal Clinic on December 23. He died at the clinic on the 23rd. He was treated by Dr. Byl at Dale Animal Clinic on Wednesday, December 16th, on Tuesday, December 22nd, and on the 23rd, when he died. He was a sweet, loving little kitten. When he came to our house, he was terrified of men. He would run and hide when my husband or my sons went into his room, but after several days had past, he began to trust them. He loved to sit on the desk in his room and watch the birds in our backyard. He also liked watching our Cat Sitter DVD. Another of his favorite activities was sitting on my lap and watching the computer screen while I played Solitaire. He liked watching the cards turn over. He enjoyed sitting in my husband's lap to "help" him put puzzles together. Actually, he was better at taking the puzzles apart!On Tueday, December 22nd, he started throwing up. I took him to Dale Animal Clinic, and Dr. Byl started him on an IV because he was dehydrated. He came home later that day and seemed to be doing all right. I checked him every two hours during that night. At 5:00 a.m., he was up and using his litter box. At 7:00 a.m., he was stretched out on the floor, obviously in distress. I rushed him to Dale Animal Clinic where they did everything possible to help him. He died around 9:00 a.m. Tim Hoeck, the owner of Forever Friends, cremated his body, and we have his ashes at our house.My family and I loved Timothy very much. We called him Tiny Tim. He was a wonderful kitten, and we miss him. — Jean Kean

Someone glued this kitten to a dark Minnesota highway on one of the coldest nights of the year. Sadly, the kitten named Timothy died. A reward of more than $3,000 is being offered for information in what is described as one of the worst cases of cruelty to an animal. Authorities think the kitten was stuck to the highway for hours in freezing temperatures before a traveling couple found him glued to the snow-frozen road. Veterinarians tried to save Timothy, but he died five days later as a result of trauma, frostbite, and complications from severe injuries. "He was a lover, just a sweetheart," said Dana Wigg, a humane officer with Second Chance Rescue. Timothy had responded to the kindness of the rescue staff and loved to cuddle, snuggle, and purr. "We all thought Timothy was going to get better," Dana said, adding that the staff was heart-broken when the orange and white tabby died on December 23rd.

Two types of savory vegan muffins: Pumpkin-miso and Carrot-onion-hazelnuts

I think mini muffins are great for bentos. They are tiny, easy and fast to make, freeze beautifully, and defrost naturally by lunchtime if you take them out of the freezer in the morning. They are handy snacks to eat when your energy is running low but you don’t have time to stop and eat properly, and are also great accompaniments to a soup or salad.


I do not like very sweet muffins, like those monster ones sold at certain fast-food-coffee franchises. Why call it a muffin, when it’s really a cupcake without icing? So when I make my own muffins, I like savory ones or at least ones that are not loaded with sugar.


Here are two savory-yet-sweet muffins that are also vegan. The bright orange winter squash or pumpkin muffins have the added twist of miso, which gives them a unique flavor. These muffins don’t rise much, but they are crispy on the outside and have a light, almost creamy texture on the inside. The carrot-onion-hazelnut muffins are a bit lighter and fluffier. Both have only 2 tablespoons each of maple syrup in them - the natural sweetness of the vegetables makes up for it. Plus, each batch only has 2 1/2 tablespoons of oil. Made as mini-muffins they only have 40-45 calories per muffin. Even as regular size muffins they are only around 100 calories per piece. The non-dieting omnivore loves both of them regardless, though he says he has a slight preference for the pumpkin ones.

Recipe 1: Pumpkin (or winter squash) miso muffins

Makes 24 mini-muffins, or 10 regular size muffins (put some water into the 2 empty muffin compartments when baking). Mini-muffins are 45 calories each, regular size ones about 103 calories each.

• 1 cup unsweetened pumpkin or winter squash puree, homemade or from a can (I cook winter squash in the oven until soft and scoop out the flesh, or cut it up into small pieces and cook it with a little bit of water in a heavy pan until soft.)
• 1 tsp. Garam Masala
• 2 Tbs. maple syrup
• 2 1/2 Tbs. olive oil
• 2 Tbs. mild white miso
• 1/4 cup unsweetened soymilk (or regular milk, if you’re not concerned with keeping these vegan)
• 1 cup all purpose white flour
• 1/2 tsp. baking powder
• 1/2 tsp. baking soda

Preheat oven to 180°C / 375°F. If necessary, oil or spray your muffin tins.


Mix together the wet ingredients: the pumpkin puree, spices, maple syrup, olive oil, miso and soymilk until thoroughly blended.


Sift together the flour, baking powder and baking soda. Mix into the wet ingredients. If it looks too stiff, add a tiny bit of soy milk.


Spoon evenly into muffin tins. Bake for 15-18 minutes for mini muffins, 22-25 minutes for regular size. The muffins will not rise much, but will be lightly browned on top. Cool on a rack. To freeze, pack in a freezer-safe container or freezer bag.

Recipe 2: Carrot, onion and hazelnut muffins

• 1 medium carrot, finely chopped
• 1 medium onion, finely chopped
• Oil for cooking vegetables
• 1/2 cup chopped hazelnuts (or other nuts)
• Grated rind of 1/2 lemon (about 1/2 tsp.)
• 1 tsp. lemon juice
• 3/4 cup unsweetened soymilk
• 2 Tbs. olive oil
• 2 Tbs. maple syrup
• Several grinds of coarsely ground black pepper
• 1/2 tsp. sea salt
• 1 cup all purpose white flour
• 1 tsp. baking powder
• Pinch baking soda

Preheat oven to 180°C / 375°F. If necessary, oil or spray your muffin tins.


Sauté the carrot and onion in a little olive oil until limp and lightly browned. Toast the chopped up nuts lightly in the same pan.


Combine the sautéed vegetables with the soymilk, lemon juice (the soymilk with curdle a bit - don’t worry, it’s supposed to), olive oil, maple syrup, pepper and salt. Mix well.


Sift together the flour, baking powder and baking soda and add to the wet ingredients. Add the nuts. Mix until just combined. If it’s too stiff, add a tiny bit of soy milk.


Spoon evenly into muffin tins. Bake for 15-18 minutes for mini muffins, 22-25 minutes for regular size. . The muffins will rise a bit more than the pumpkin muffins but not that much, since they have no egg in them, but not to worry - they’ll still be light. Cool on a rack. To freeze, pack in a freezer-safe container or freezer bag.

Steve Irwin Joins Pursuit of Nisshin Maru


Position:  63 Degrees 43 Minutes South   81 Degrees 26 Minutes East


The Sea Shepherd ship Steve Irwin joined the Sea Shepherd ship Bob Barker this morning at 0700 Hours (Sydney time). Both Sea Shepherd ships are now on the tail of the Japanese factory ship Nisshin Maru.


The Japanese fleet was running fast to the Northeast not knowing that the Steve Irwin was on a course of Southwest coming directly for them. With the fleet doing 15 knots, and the Steve Irwin doing 15 knots, the Steve Irwin and the whaling fleet closed the gap at 30 knots cutting the rendezvous time in half.


The Steve Irwin sat motionless by an iceberg for two hours at a distance of thirty miles to allow the Nisshin Maru to continue towards it. At a distance of only three miles, the Steve Irwin got underway and intercepted the Nisshin Maru.


As the Steve Irwin passed by the Nisshin Maru, the factory ship turned on their water cannons and were surprised when the Steve Irwin responded with a more powerful water cannon that had a couple of the whalers diving for the bridge doors as the frigid water struck their bridge wing deck.


The Steve Irwin is presently tailing the Nisshin Maru a few cable lengths and slightly to the port side of the factory ship. Across from the Steve Irwin, the Bob Barker is tailing the Nisshin Maru slightly to the starboard side.


Following in the wake of the Nisshin Maru are the Japanese vessels Shonan Maru 2, Yushin Maru 1 and Yushin Maru 2. There is no sign of the Yushin Maru 3.


Six ships, two from Sea Shepherd and four vessels from the Japanese fleet, are heading at full speed northeastwardly.


"Not a single whale has died since the Bob Barker intercepted the fleet at 0100 Hours on February 6th. It is now the third day that the whaling fleet has been unable to kill a whale. We intend to turn these three whaling free days into three whaling free weeks," said Captain Paul Watson. "I am confident that once again we will severely cut their kill quotas and we will once again negate their profits."


The Steve Irwin and the Bob Barker have enough fuel to pursue the whaling fleet for another month.


"It does not matter where they go, east or west along the Antarctic Coast," said Steve Irwin 1st Officer Locky MacLean. "We intend to stick to their rear like glue and we will not allow a single whale to be loaded onto the decks of that foul floating abattoir."


There are 41 crew (29 men and 12 women) on board the Steve Irwin from Australia, Bermuda, Brazil, Canada, Estonia, France, Japan, Hungary, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, South Africa, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and the United States (15 nationalities).


There are 30 (6 women and 24 men) crew on board the Bob Barker from Australia, New Zealand, United States, Sweden, United Kingdom, and South Africa (6 nationalities).

Bob Barker Rammed by Illegal Whaler

At 1209 PM Fremantle, Australia time, the Yushin Maru 3 intentionally rammed the Sea Shepherd ship Bob Barker, penetrating it's hull and endangering the lives of it¹s crew. The collision occurred at 65 degrees 21 South, 67 degrees 58 East, about 180 miles off Cape Darnley in the Australian Antarctic Territory.


The Bob Barker had been actively blocking the slipway of the Nisshin Maru, the Japanese whaling fleet’s factory ship when the collision occurred. Four harpoon ships, the Yushin Maru 1, 2, and 3 and Shonan Maru 2, were circling and making near passes to the stern and bow of the Sea Shepherd vessel. The Bob Barker did not move from its position. At which point, the Yushin Maru 3 intentionally rammed the Bob Barker, creating a 3-foot long 4-inch deep gash in the mid starboard side of the Sea Shepherd vessel above the waterline.


No crew was injured during the collision. The Bob Barker continues to block the slipway of the Nisshin Maru, preventing the transfer of slaughtered whales and effectively shutting down illegal whaling operations.


The incident demonstrates a continued escalation of violence by the illegal whalers in the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary.


Said Captain Paul Watson from the bridge of the Steve Irwin, currently en route to join the action, “Because the whalers got away basically scot-free with the outrageous sinking of the Ady Gil, they now apparently think they can do whatever they want and they appear to have no qualms about endangering Sea Shepherd crew. What we really need is for the governments of Australia and New Zealand to step up and start enforcing maritime laws in these waters, or who know what the whalers will do next. Australian and New Zealand lives are at risk every day in these waters."


The crew of the Bob Barker noticed that the Yushin Maru 3 stopped moving in the water shortly after the impact, and appeared to be falling behind as the Bob Barker maintained its position on the stern of the Nisshin Maru. It’s possible the Yushin Maru 3 damaged itself in the collision.


The Japanese whalers are far more aggressive this year than in past campaigns.
